How to use the app

What passes or fails is your call. This page only covers how to record it.

Signing in the first time

Your manager adds you with your work email. Then, on your phone:

  1. Open the app and tap First time, or forgot your password?
  2. Enter your work email and tap Email me a link.
  3. Open the email on your phone, tap the link, then press Continue.
  4. Choose a password (at least 8 characters).

After that you sign in with your email and password. You stay signed in on that phone for 30 days. If your company uses two-step sign-in, the app also asks for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

Add it to your home screen

iPhone: open the app in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. Android: in Chrome, tap the menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app. It then opens like any other app.

Doing a check

  1. Tap Scan a tag and point the camera at the QR tag on the equipment.
  2. Pick the check that's due.
  3. Answer each line. A No on any line records the check as a fail.
  4. On a fail, say what's wrong in your own words if the suggested text doesn't fit.
  5. Add a photo if you like (optional on a pass, recommended on a fail, up to 3).
  6. Tap the button at the bottom to record it.

Scanned a tag with the phone's normal camera instead? It opens a page with I'm doing an inspection, which brings you into the app.

Why location has to be on

Each check is saved with your name, the date and time, and where the phone was. The app reads your location only while a check is open on the screen. If location is off, the check can't be recorded. Turn it on in your phone settings for this app (or for Safari on iPhone).

Indoors, phone location can be out by tens of metres. It shows you were on site, not which exact extinguisher you stood beside. If the phone looks far from the tag's site, the app warns you but still records the check.

Fixed it on the spot?

After a fail, the app asks if you fixed it yourself. Say what you did (for example, “Swapped in spare extinguisher EXT-09”) and tap Record the fix. It closes the problem under your name, with the time.

An item taken out of service that's fixed and recorded within 15 minutes doesn't send your manager an email. Anything else still open goes in the 8 am email.

No signal?

Do the check anyway. It's saved on your phone with the time you did it and sends by itself when you're back online. It's marked as sent late, so nobody mistakes it for the time it arrived. Photos go up with it.
